After the success of the my first Wine Connect, I was on the wait list for the La Motte wine pairing and I eagerly waited for someone to cancel. While on holiday in the Midlands, I received a notification that two spots had opened up and I was first in line. I was so excited, I immediately paid the entrance fee and counted down every day until the fateful evening.
We are fans of La Motte wine. They have a very smooth line of wine, elegantly packaged and reasonably priced so I was especially excited to go to this wine pairing.
My fiancé fell ill that day so I invited my little brother to join me. He loves wine too, it’s in our blood so he was the perfect date to take with him.
Upon arrival I was greeted by Chef Phillipe Frydman who I stated before is a welcoming and friendly gentleman. This time was a little different. I made friends with the sweetest Irish-South African lady by the name of Annie. We instantly hit it off as our love of food made our conversation enlightening.
The winemaker in attendance was Edmund Terreblanche from La Motte. Very passionate about wine, knows how to pair and was great at answering all my crazy questions about wine, which I will talk about in another post.
I was a little scared that my brother felt like a fish out of water, as clearly the youngest person in attendance, but he held his ground and I was surprised to see that he is so mature. I have to think that I played a little part in that! Yes, I did!
For the second time, my business card was picked but this time, I won a breakfast for 6 at Green Origins, the place where this wine Pairing was held.
I just wanted to thank the Wine Connect team for hosting such an extravagant filled with great hosts, delicious wine and great company.
