Van Loveren Wines: New Love

So I have been falling in love with wine all over and over now that I have started expanding my pallet not only to include red wines. When I went to the Vaal Wine Route a couple of months ago, the first place we started off at served us Van Loveren wines that we landed up purchasing two bottles on the spot.

I know I rave about of the family of wines like Durbanville Hills and La Motte, but this was an unexpected liking. Apart from buying the two bottles, I found myself buying their rosé for a Saturday event at my house.

When it comes to rosé, I have one main rule when it comes to the smell: The first flavour that should reach your nose is definitely the flower. If you don’t get the slight smell of rose on your first smell then I already know that the wine will not have the best flavour.

So I opened the twist cap and I had my first “wiff”. Yes, of course it passed my first test as I could smell a red rose. I surprisingly enjoyed it.

I only say that it was surprisingly delicious because I tend firstly to stay away from any other wine than red and secondly, I always stick to the vineyard families that I am used to.

So, for a wine that I tasted months ago and was reluctant to buy, it surpassed all my expectations and I am super impressed at them so I will be buying more of their wines.

Here’s a pic of the Rosé I bought over the weekend.
