What to eat on Christmas

I do find it weird that I am blogging on Christmas night but something weird happened today. We decided not to make plans for this festive season and wing it.

I started off the morning with some salmon eggs benedict. All made from scratch. It was my 3Rd time attempt at making it. First try my hollandaise was perfect but my eggs were really bad. The second time I nailed the hollandaise again and decided to fry the eggs. Yes I cheated. This time my eggs were perfect as I now used the cling wrap method but because I haven’t tried this breakfast in 6 months and because I was focusing on my eggs, my egg yolk mixture in my hollandaise curdled and the taste was there but it was chunky sauce. Boy Oh boy, did it make me sad but my amazing husband still give me a 8/10. Anyways I’ll try it again in the new year.
Going back to my previous topic, we tidied the house and decided we’d go out for lunch/dinner. We needed to find a kid friendly place…

If I were in the restaurant business I would be capitalising on this day. Yes, this is the day of the birth of our saviour (if you’re Christian) but our capitalist economy has done well for today. A quick Google search revealed about 15 places near me that were prepared to host us. My problem is, the ridiculous pricing. Yes, they’re mostly buffets, but does it really have to be this costly? R200 for children under 10? My child would literally eat one pork rib and two chips the entire time for R200.

The cheapest place was in Melville for R180 for adults and R80 for children. It was kinda far so against any better judgement we opted for mc Donalds. Yip, plain mc Donalds did the job for us today.

For R110 were able to enjoy a feast of deeply fried food and coke.

I think next year we’ll be a little more prepared and maybe host a giant lunch for everyone.

Not too bad for last minute eatings.
