[REVIEW] Bayede! Prince Cabernet Sauvignon

You have probably seen these beads while you walk down the vino aisles. They belong to Bayede! wines. Bayede! have created a range of premium wines that don’t break the bank. In fact, I think they are the most affordable wines in the market currently.

I was first introduced to Bayede! wines in 2016 while I attended my first Vaal Wine route. The Vaal wine route was an excellent way to explore new wines, hear the history of the wines and purchase them. During my tasting I learned something about this brand that resonated with me. We’re obviously attracted to the beautiful beads on each bottle, but knowing what they mean to the Bayede! brand makes every sip of their wines, that little bit sweeter. Bayede! makes a huge commitment to job creation. It goes beyond the bottle and ends with the beads that are locally made and empower communities. Their signature beads bring sustainable income to small and medium enterprises.

While I’d love to stay boasting about their commitment to job creation, I’d like to talk more about their wine.

What I want from a cabernet sauvignon is the dark fruit taste, higher tannins, more body and less sweetness. There are many options available in the market today and Bayede! is one of them.

It was Father’s day and I brought 2 bottles to my parent’s place to enjoy with our lunch. I just wish I brought more because we enjoyed every sip. Their Prince Cabernet Sauvignon starts fruity and ends really strong. While it does have less body to it, it doesn’t deter from the ripe flavours that paired very elegantly with our lunch steak.

To the nose: Loved the upfront cherry and blackberry smell that just gets your mouth to salivate.

On the tongue: slightly wooded oak tannins with a velvety texture and I did detect a little bit of sweetness which was unusual but a delight on my side.

Conclusion: If you go into the store and find this wine, you will see that its pricing is very affordable. Do not let that make you feel like the wine will taste like sour grapes (LOL). You will definitely be surprised of the texture and taste combined. I would love more of this and look forward to opening my next bottle.
