Possibly the best bite ever

I was watching an episode of Come Dine With Me South Africa and the one contestant made this meal. Hubby and I were salivating as we listened to how the other contestants praised the meal in front of everyone and privately. Luckily we have 60-minute grocery deliveries- one good thing to come out of Covid-19 lockdown. So, click-click, pay and 60-minutes later, I had my grocery list delivered to my doorstep.

Here’s something I saw when I re-made this dish ahead of time. Don’t wrap the asparagus ahead of time if you can’t air-seal it. The proscuitto dries out so when you add it to the oven, it dries out even more and you’re left with a tough piece of meat to chew on.

Trust me on this, make this for friends the next time they come over. You will look like a professional chef and you didn’t even put that much effort into it.

What you will need
2 packs of parma ham or prosciutto
1 pack of asparagus (10 or sao)
1 pack of brie cheese
1 tablespoon butter for flash frying

How to do it

  1. Flash fry/sauté the asparagus while seasoning with salt and pepper then set aside to cool down
  2. Heat an oven to 180 degrees
  3. Wrap the asparagus in one slice of ham each
  4. Cut up the brie and Place over the asparagus
  5. Add to the oven until brie starts melting
  6. While it’s in the oven, pour some balsamic vinegar into a pot and place on a hot stove until it reduces to a bubbling gel and remove from the heat immediately.
  7. Remove asparagus from the oven, plate and drizzle the reduction on top and serve. #DearFutureRestaurant
