I first fell in love with Roodeberg’s rosé wine in early 2019 when the brand got introduced to me by another blogger. I loved it. Rosé is not my go-to wine but I liked this one more than others. I started to do research on this wine and this is what I found:
Rosé wine can be made from a wide variety of red grape varieties, depending on the region and winemaking practices. Common grape varieties used for rose wine include Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre, Pinot Noir, Sangiovese, and Tempranillo, among others. The choice of grape variety can greatly affect the flavor profile of the wine, making each rose wine unique in terms of taste.

The Roodeberg rosé is 41.1% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28.3% Mourvedre, 13.6% Shiraz, 11.6% Grenache Red and 5.4% Cinsaut according to https://www.roodeberg.com/our-wines/roodeberg-classic-rose/.
Rosé wine comes in a wide range of colors, ranging from pale pink to deep pink or even light red. The color of rosé wine depends on various factors, including the grape variety, the duration of skin contact during production, and the winemaking techniques used. This wide spectrum of colors makes rosé wine visually distinctive and appealing to wine lovers. “This attractive, deep salmon-pink rosé delights with subtle aromas of strawberry, candy floss, and raspberry, as well as hints of rose petals and Turkish delight. The palate is fresh and bright, with good acidity and fruity, long finish.”
This wine has the acidity and freshness of white wine, with some of the fruitiness and body of red wine. It’s a little dry with notes of strawberries, cherries, and raspberries, as well as the common floral note.
It is elegantly priced under R100 for the 2022 version and some places have the 2020 and 2021 year priced just over R100.
