While grocery shopping with my family over the weekend, I had a huge craving for Norwegian Salmon. I then saw the price which gave a mini heart attack. Right next to it was a giant tuna steak at half the price so I decided I was going to cook my first tuna steak.
I have never prepared tuna and I think I sort of failed at searing it but I am not down for the count; I want to try this recipe again this weekend.
Here’s my tuna recipe
300 gram tuna steak
3 tablespoons of black pepper
1 tablespoon dried corriander
2 tablespoons of salt
20 ml of soy sauce
20 ml of sherry
about 3 tablespoons of sesame seed oil
So I took the salt, pepper and corriander, mixed it and threw it onto a chopping board while heating my pan with the sesame seed oil. I then rolled the tuna in the spices and put in the pan. Now I cooked it for WAY too long but you should be leaving it on each side for about 1 minute, depending on the thickness of the steak. Once that is done, remove it from the pan and wrap it in foil to retain the heat. On the same pan, add the sherry and soy sauce and reduce it. pour on top of the tuna and serve immediately.
Like I said, I did over cook it a little, but the flavour was explosive.I am going to add a little chilli in the next one.
