Autumn Restaurant Week 2016 Part 2

After my experience at A la Bouffé, I had completely lowered my expectations for this meal. To corroborate our experience this time, we invited my brother who could judge our experience and tell us if we were exaggerating or not.

This time it was a 2 course meal at Prime Grill in Fourways. Like I said, our expectations were super low as the last time, getting excited got the better of us. All we craved was a steak and we crossed our fingers hoping that would be on the menu.

The choices were unanimous: chicken wings for starters and 200g aged sirloin for the main. Immediately we were greeted to an empty but beautiful restaurant that boasts its own butchery and upstairs conference rooms. The manager was quick to make his acquaintance which again was a treat that we did not previously enjoy.

Shortly after ordering our red wine, our chicken wings arrived and although there are many ways to mess up the preparation and cooking of these wings, this was not the case with these wings. They were juicy, full of flavour and so good that you sat quietly licking your fingers after eating. That’s the biggest compliment I can give the chef, licking my fingers in a fancy restaurant. Job well done!

With smiles on our faces, we proceeded to wait for mains while we filled our tummies with wine and continued with great conversation. The wait was a little long, about 25 minutes, but let me tell you, it was worth the wait.

Then came our aged sirloin and crispy salad. There’s nothing better than that combination. If I could eat that all day, everyday, I would.

You can tell that the meat was marinating is some delicious sauce because right through the middle, the meat was bursting with flavour. To top it off, the salad was so fresh as if they were growing the ingredients right behind the restaurant.

Couple with great service with a smile, I really enjoyed this experience and I am glad this restaurant ended off my restaurant week.
